I wanted to build a conservatory and applied for planning permission which got approval in December 2022. I posted a job in Bark.com to find a builder. I got one selected called Local Conservatory Specialists. Had the plan discussed and agreed. We also agreed to make the payment in 3 instalments. The contract was signed on 1st May 2023. The total of £30000 was agreed in the contract. I paid the first installment of £10500 on 3rd May 2023.
The project was agreed to start on 10th July 2023. On the day before they contacted me saying that their Stripe account is suspended for investigation and couldn't start on the date. He said it will take 3 months to unlock the account. It went silent for 3 months and he contacted me to say his account is still locked. He asked for the second installment for the cost of materials in order to start. I paid £13,753.00 on 2nd October 2023 and 6th October 2023 hoping that the project will start and the 1st installment can be used as second installment.
Then he sent someone to dig the foundation on 7th October 2023. He said I need to pay for the labour as he used all the money I sent for materials. I paid £2000 for the labour on that day. The building control came the next day, had some clarification needed on an Anglian water pipe and asked to prove that there is no pipe underneath the site. From then the builder took around 6 months to get a CCTV investigation which could have been done in a week. It took 8 months to prove to the Building Control that there is no pipe underneath because of your delays.
Finally the building control approved the work to start after inspection on 27th June 2024. They did concrete pouring in the next few days. I have been contacting them ever since then and not hearing back. After paying £26,253 all I got is a trench in the backyard, some bags of materials in front of the house.
I asked for a mediation service to find a middle ground and they were not ready to join. When I called them from a new number he picked up and was saying even if I go to court I won't get my money back and I need to wait until he can do the work. He was also not sure when he can start. He is saying if I need my work to be completed soon you can hire someone else and he will pay me back when he can. I suspect he is a scammer and may be tricking a lot of innocent people into his trap.

The company is now dissolved as expected in fraudulent case. I consulted a law firm and they are saying they can sue the directors if the company is dissolved. Another option is to inform trading standards.
I created this page if anyone else had faced problems with them and want to fight them in the court. Please put a message in the comment section. More people more better for the case. I am almost certain that I will not see my money again. It's better to publish such information in the Internet so that others can be saved from this nightmare.
Building sector is full of such cowboy con artists who's only intention is your money. Always check that a company have more than 5 years filing history in company house. Also never pay more than 3000 in advance. To buy materials always insist that you will make the purchase yourself, so you get the receipts and chance to return. Basically don't trust anyone in this field as it's highly irregularated.
